Gnathology is the science that treats of the biologics of the masticatory system; that is the morphology, anatomy, histology, physiology and the therapeutics of the oral organ, especially the jaws and teeth and the vital relations of this organ to the rest of the body (B.B. McCollum).

The International Academy of Gnathology Europe, a non-profit organisation, is a section of the International Academy of Gnathology and was founded in 1971 by a circle of outstanding European Dentists devoted to excellence and long term success in dental treatment. Today it represents a forum of Dentists, Dental Technicians and other medicine related professionals, who are devoted to enhance and maintain highest quality in practice according to the principles of Gnathology.
Main purposes of the IAG is to promote lectures and post-graduate courses in Esthetic Restorative Dentistry and Occlusion, to promote Excellence in Comprehensive Dentistry, to encourage scientific progress in dental sciences and to disseminate the current knowledge and state of the art of highest quality   in Diagnosis and Treatment . The official language of the Academy is English.

Scientific Meetings   serve to maintain closer contacts among members and associates and to enable exchange of knowledge and actual state of the art in different fields of dental restorative treatment procedures including the establishment of stable Occlusion in Dental Reconstructions .  Outstanding international lecturers present their findings and new technologies in a practical way.
The meetings are organized in alternating European countries and cities. Local promotion and the chance for participants to get acquainted with treatment procedures and techniques in different countries of the world are essential objectives of these European meetings.
Social events and excursions are integrated in the annual meetings for the purpose of promotion of friendship among likeminded colleagues.

Postgraduate courses in special subjects for a restricted number of participants during the year are organised at discretion.
