Annual Meeting 2001
Garmisch-Partenkirchen Millennium Meeting 2000
Prague Oct 24-27, 2001 Garmisch Partenkirchen, Germany Disease and Pain Management in the Masticatory System Pain and how to relief your patients from pain Wed Oct 24: Gert Groot Landeweer, Germany full day course Integration of Manual Techniques in Diagnosis and Treatment of Restorative Dentistry In modern dentistry, Esthetic and Prophylactic factors have become more important in treatment considerations. In addition to Esthetics and Propylaxis, structural load and function are two more very important aspects for planning and deciding upon functional reconstructions. Not only load capacity of bone, teeth and periodontal structures but also functional and dynamic occlusion must be analysed prior to restorative measures. Changes of occlusion after prosthodontic or orthodontic treatment may interfere with muscle activity and result in changes of occlusal forces. Therefore Manual Examination Techniques for analysis of function and load capacity of the stomatognathic system before, during and after dental reconstructions are essential for planning and therapy of dental disease and may contribute to treatment success and longevity of dental reconstructions. This full day workshop: The mechanics of muscular loading Dysfunction and overloading in the stomatognathic system Examination of functional changes: lack of coordination, hyperactivity, hypertonic aspects
Examination of structural changes: identification of structural changes with the aid of reference points Examination of intracapsular load capacity Examination of pericapsular load capacity Examination of mobility in mouth opening direction Examination of masticatory muscles Examination of elasticity of mouth soil muscles Causes of malfunction and structural disease Signification of findings and planning of examination oriented treatment: classification of patients, classification of findings, classification and application of therapeutic methods.
